"This is the best course I have taken at Amherst yet. Though it was a bit of a tough introduction to university physics (this is the first phys course I took), I learned so much that I think about and apply often in my other courses and even in my daily life. Hanneke is very knowledgeable, organized, and fair---I would say he's the best physics professor at Amherst. The postlab grading was a little harsh sometimes, but it isn't much of your total grade. "Hanneke is an extremely nice person. That being said, I would not take another class with him. His grading criteria on labs and homework was extremely unclear and he would often knock points off for things I explicitly asked him about in class. His lectures, while engaging, were difficult to follow and the lectures and textbook readings were often not sufficient for completing the homework and prelabs, meaning you have to attend office hours, which were only held late Sunday night and Monday when most people were in class.
