"Professor Hastie is a very nice person, and she is incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about film. But as a non-FAMS student exploring the subject for the first time, this class didn't blow my mind in any way, or get me excited about studying the subject further. I felt like I didn't have enough background knowledge in film-studies to keep up with my classmates, and although the course was supposed to be focused on the industry of Hollywood, a lot of our readings and discussions seemed to be about abstract and confusing aspects of film analysis. The essay prompts were equally vague and confusing, and I didn't enjoy writing them. I know that a lot of my classmates really enjoyed this class, so don't let my opinion deter you, but I'm personally glad to be done with this course."
