"I thought the course covered the core material, and the exams are generally reasonable, though there are sometimes one or two surprise questions. That said, I personally found the lectures difficult to stay engaged with, since they often felt like reading directly from the board, and I honestly learned more from the textbook than from attending class. Because the material is already very abstract, I also wished the course had done more to motivate why groups and related structures matter, since at times it was hard to appreciate the subject beyond its formal definitions and proofs. Feedback on assignments also took a while to come back, which made it less useful for exam review, though that seemed more like a grading issue than a reflection of Professor Call himself."
