"Professor Ishii is fantastic at answering questions. It's probably his greatest strength. Even questions from peers that made little sense to me were answered thoroughly but without rambling. His lectures are very engaging and require student participation. His quizzes (weekly) are similar to the problem sets and practice quizzes. His exams (three midterms, no final) are challenging and test conceptual knowledge. Some questions are very similar to those from previous quizzes and problem sets. Some require you to go beyond the thinking you've done before the course. Professor Ishii curves up but not down: if everyone earns an A, everyone receives an A. But if the course median is below a B, it is curved to become one, as I understand it. His office hours are very accessible and well attended. Before the "final" exam (midterm 3) he held extensive review sessions. He wants you to succeed. Very good course!"

Homework (hours/week): Ungraded problem sets, but weekly quizzes. So hours of work depends.
Essays: 1 optional essay for extra credit at the end of semester
Exams: 3 total exams including the final, which is basically just a third midterm (not cumulative). Exams themselves are not curved, but the course grades are curved.

"Recommended if you are serious about becoming an econ major. This section provides the BEST foundation by FAR, as well as connection with a professor who knows the ins and outs of the major, the school in general, and multiple job industries (thus gives strongly supported advice). However, not really recommended if you just want to dip your toes in econ material, just because it will probably be more work than you want to put in. "
