Recommend: Yes
Good for non-majors? No
Teaching: Lecture, Full class discussion, Small group discussion, Lab
Reading (pages/week): About a chapter corresponding to each class (2-3 chapters per week) but the reading is all optional and I would recommend using as supplemental material for after the class because it goes a lot more in depth than necessary. HOWEVER do all the Sacks readings! They are interesting but also very relevant to material in class
Homework (hours/week): Depends on the week but 1-2 (articles to read ocassionally but no set problem sets). Would recommend dedicating 30 min - 1 hour each day to review material to stay on track
Essays: 0
Exams: 1 quiz, 2 exams + 1 final (none were curved)
"Professor Turgeon went very fast in the lectures, which makes sense because there was a lot of material to cover. However make sure you attend them all to the best of your ability and stay on top of asking questions immediately once you are confused. I recommend asking them through emails because she was very responsive and did good job of elaborating over text. Also for the lab portion of the class, stay on top of the sheep brain exam and start studying EARLY. Take pictures and label everything. I found that to be the most helpful."
