"ECON 421 is one of my favorite courses at Amherst. The class was full of students who were genuinely passionate about the material and I even came away with meaningful friendships from it. The readings were very cohesively chosen, with each one building on, challenging, or refining the ones before it, which made the course really thoughtful and well structured. We also got to present a journal paper and write our own (ECON360 - Econometrics is a prerequisite, and you use a lot of methods in the class), which made the class engaging and intellectually rewarding. Most of all, the professor’s enthusiasm for the subject was contagious, and the course honestly gave me a bit of a “eureka” moment... it raised the bar for the kinds of classes I want to pursue and clarified the kind of work I hope to do in the future."
